Sunscreen Saves Lives
Let’s start by getting one thing straight. 𝐒𝐔𝐍𝐒𝐂𝐑𝐄𝐄𝐍 𝐂𝐀𝐍 𝐒𝐀𝐕𝐄 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐋𝐈𝐅𝐄. Whether you choose chemical (oxybenzone, avobenzone, etc) or physical sunscreen ingredients (titanium dioxide, zinc) it's the protection that matters. 𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗠𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗟 sunscreens act like a sponge and 𝗔𝗕𝗦𝗢𝗥𝗕 ultraviolet rays. 𝗣𝗛𝗬𝗦𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗟 sunscreens 𝗕𝗟𝗢𝗖𝗞 the ultraviolet rays. There is much research happening around the chemicals used in sunscreens and how they can affect the human body. While this information is very important, I often see people forgetting to mention that 𝗦𝗨𝗡𝗦𝗖𝗥𝗘𝗘𝗡 𝗦𝗔𝗩𝗘𝗦 𝗟𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗦. The risk of not wearing sunscreen (skin cancers & melanoma) greatly outweighs the risk of using chemical filters.
I choose to use 𝗣𝗛𝗬𝗦𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗟 sunscreens because one of the main ingredients in 𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗠𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗟 sunscreens, called 𝗢𝗫𝗬𝗕𝗘𝗡𝗭𝗢𝗡𝗘 has been deemed an endocrine disrupting chemical (can affect hormones) and has been found to be absorbed into the body and excreted via the urine. .The safety profiles of 𝗭𝗜𝗡𝗖 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗧𝗜𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗜𝗨𝗠 𝗗𝗜𝗢𝗫𝗜𝗗𝗘 are much higher than OXYBENZONE. If you are unsure of what type of sunscreen to choose, please ask your health provider. They can help to steer you in the right direction.
